I think by now I can officially call myself a ‘Netflix Addict’. If you, like me, find yourself answering “Are you still watching?” with ‘YES’ several times per week- you too are probably a certified Netflix Binger. The more popular the streaming service gets the more amazing series are available- meaning “My List” is endless. There is nothing better than wrapping yourself in your duvet and immersing yourself in your favourite TV story lines- so here is my go-to guide for when your you-time consists of exactly that.
JANE THE VIRGIN
Follow the story of Jane Villanueva who gets accidentally artificially inseminated & then lives in her very own Telenovela (you’ll understand if you watch it). Far-fetched but far too addicting. Roll on March when the final series is out!
CONVERSATIONS WITH A KILLER: THE TED BUNDY TAPES
A five-part documentary series about Ted Bundy- one of the most notorious serial killers in history. It features audio from the murderer himself that have never been heard prior to the release of this series. Well worth a watch.
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK
This is probably one of the only series where you end up liking the other characters more than the main ones. With one season to go, and no exact date set yet, I can’t wait to find out what happens to the original inmates. In the words of showrunner Jenji Cohan, “I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield”.
GILMORE GIRLS: A YEAR IN THE LIFE
As I watched Gilmore Girls I was instantly thoroughly invested in Lorelai and Rory Gilmore’s lives, and so wasn’t satisfied by the ending of the series. Where is the ‘happily ever after’? I jumped at the special episodes recently added to Netflix.
THE SANTA CLARITA DIET
Drew Barrymore must be the best looking “zombie” I’ve ever seen. It’s bizarre, it’s hilarious and it’s some-what gory. I stumbled across this by accident and am so glad I did.
I first seen a clip of Luther when I was watching everyone hide their face from the screen on ‘Gogglebox’. The suspense throughout every episode will have you gripped to your TV. I’m gutted I’ve ran out of episodes to watch.
AMERICAN HORROR STORY
I must admit; the earlier seasons are the best ones- but the creators of American Horror Story keep developing plot after plot to keep us hooked. My personal favourites, so far, are Murder House, Asylum and Cult.
An original chick-flick favourite. Whether you’re happy or sad, in love or heartbroken- Gossip Girl. (Although I can’t quite look at Dan Humphrey’s the same now after watching “You”. Another binge-worthy show.)
The series that made me appreciate the amazing acting from Tatiana Maslany. She plays 8 clones all with very different personalities and mannerisms. The story line is engrossing. Something I’ll go back and watch for a second time without a doubt.
THE GOOD PLACE
Another odd series. Where do people get these ideas? A group of people pass away, and it is decided whether they go to ‘The Good Place’ or ‘The Bad Place’. I can’t even attempt to summarise any more. The twists and turns in this series give me whiplash.
The next show on my hit list is ‘Sex Education’- I’ve heard it’s meant to be hilarious. What do you think of the shows I’ve suggested? And is there anything else you think I should add to my ‘To Watch’ list?
Until next time,
Love, Kayleigh Rose x
