Uh-oh! She wants to talk about mental health again. Well, why shouldn’t we? I hate that a stigma remains in society surrounding the topic of ‘mental health’. Lack of knowledge and understanding has lead to the mumbling of uneducated voices when they see or hear about something unfamiliar to them. We are all different, have different beliefs & tolerate life stressors in different ways- so who is to say what is ‘normal’ and what is ‘abnormal’? Mental health isn’t something to ignore, it’s something to embrace.

Can you believe it? November is nearly over! This means it is completely acceptable to listen to Christmas songs & watch elf now- right? As we approach the end of the month i thought i’d share with you what I’ve been reading throughout November. I hope you enjoy- & grab a copy when you can!

Recovery: Freedom from our Addictions (Russel Brand)

What is it about?

This is undoubtedly a ‘self-help’ book. It contains information about the 12 step programme used by Alcoholics Anonymous & similar groups. I loved that this book is educational & autobiographical. Russel talks about his own experiences & helps to use the advice, not only in specific addictions, but in activities of daily living. The way he writes delves deep into our thoughts & insecurities. He doesn’t focus solely on the ‘usual’ addictions that we hear about- although drink, drugs, gambling and sex addiction do have a role in this book- he also discusses social media, body image and what many would consider ‘modern’ addictions.

Freedom from Our Addictions is extremely interesting & very educational. I love how it has given me a new perspective- however, this is not what I would consider ‘easy’ reading.

My first post for my new re-vamped blog is, of course, about my spikey house mates. If you follow my Instagram there is no doubt that you’ve already seen endless photographs of my pet hedgehogs- they’re just too cute not to pap! My direct messages always seem to be filled with hedgehog care or general hedge-baby questions- so I have decided to make this a regular topic for my blog. I am by no means an expert, but Pippa, Autumn & myself are excited to share our journey with you!
